Water Softeners & Filtration in Campbell, CA

Hassle-Free Water Softening

Soft Patagonian of Campbell, CA

Campbell is served by San Jose Water Company, and the supply is not what most people assume. The primary source is treated Valley Water at about 5.8 grains per gallon, which is only moderately hard and is chloraminated. Behind it is groundwater at an average of 16.8 grains per gallon, reaching 26.4 at the top of its range, and that water is chlorinated rather than chloraminated. The blend shifts by zone and by season. So the honest answer for Campbell is a range: anywhere from 4.5 to 26.4 grains per gallon, a sixfold spread inside one small city from one utility. Two houses a few blocks apart can genuinely be on different water. This is why we do not quote a Campbell system over the phone. We would be guessing, and the guess would be wrong often enough to matter: a 32,000-grain softener sized for 16 grain water is undersized at 26 and oversized at 6. Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and Saratoga are on the same utility with a different mix, leaning more on chlorinated creek water at about 9.0 grains per gallon.

Five star rating - top-rated water softener service

Awesome experience from request for quotes to scheduling and installation.

‍

They had a few options and packages to chose from. I really appreciated the speed of getting a reply and patience in answering questions before signing on.Nelson came out to install, was extremely thorough in our options on how to install. We had a unique situation with routing our water but he was again, very patient and clear. They removed my old softener and put the new one in its place.

‍

Eduardo came out to do the inspection and explained how to operate. Solid warranty too. All of this was done in a few hours. Highly recommend.

Five star rating - top-rated water softener service

We had considered water softener for many years but were hesitant given the expense. Seeing the damage hard water does to your pipes, your shower appliances, dishwashers, cars, and skin.... Made me realize that water conditioning is a necessity! I called many (7+) sources on Yelp with the highest reviews... but Patagonia was a clear WINNER! Eduardo is simply amazing. He understands the products, the solutions, never tried to upsell me... and listened to all my concerns and provided solutions. His team are all employees and not contractors (very important) so they know exactly what they're doing and do the job with the highest quality in mind. Their pricing is very competitive and their service is world class! I am extremely pleased with their service and have recommended them to family, friends and coworkers!

🛠️ How can I figure out which water treatment solution is right for my home?

↓

That’s exactly where we come in. We’re experts in water treatment and highly familiar with the water quality across the entire Bay Area, Silicon Valley, Northern California, and the Central Coast. We've studied the local water reports and understand the unique challenges in each region—from hard water to high contaminant levels. We’ll assess your specific needs and recommend the right system to give you clean, high-quality water at home.

💧 Is the water hard in Campbell?

↓

It depends which side of the blend your street sits on, and that is a measurement rather than a guess. Valley Water's retailer map lists Campbell as a blend, primarily treated Valley Water with chloramine, remainder well water with chlorine. The Valley Water side averages 5.8 grains per gallon with a range of 4.5 to 8.5, which is moderately hard. The groundwater side averages 16.8 grains per gallon with a range of 10.2 to 26.4, which is very hard. San Jose Water publishes those grains-per-gallon figures directly in its 2025 water quality report. In practice: on the Valley Water side you probably do not need a softener, and if you are not seeing scale you do not have a scale problem. On the well side at 16.8 or above you will be seeing crust on fixtures, spotting on glassware and a water heater working harder than it should. And if you are seeing scale despite a nominal 5.8, that usually means you are getting more well water than the city average implies, which is worth measuring. For a four-person household the right capacity ranges from 24,000 grains on the Valley Water side to 48,000 or 64,000 at the top of the well range. Same city, same utility, same household. The measurement is not a formality.

🛠️ How does the installation of our systems work?

↓

Our water softener and filtration system are installed at your home’s main water entry point—before the water flows through the rest of your plumbing. From there, it filters and softens the water, delivering noticeable improvements throughout your entire home.

💧 Why does my Campbell water taste like chlorine?

↓

Because Campbell's primary supply is chloraminated rather than chlorinated. Chloramine is chlorine combined with ammonia, used because it holds its disinfecting power across a large distribution system. That stability is also why standard filters struggle with it. Ordinary activated carbon adsorbs free chlorine quickly, but chloramine has to be catalytically decomposed, which needs a purpose-made catalytic carbon and considerably more contact time than a pitcher or refrigerator cartridge provides. If you have filtered your water and it still tastes of chlorine in coffee or ice, that is the explanation, and catalytic carbon or reverse osmosis is the actual fix. Our Exchanger Pro RCC and Exchanger Elite RCC systems include catalytic carbon filtration that reduces chlorine, chloramine and ammonia at every tap, alongside softening. Because Campbell's blend shifts, your filter may seem to work better some months than others, and that is not your imagination.

How long does the system last? Warranty?

↓

All of our systems are designed to be a long-term solution, with a lifespan of up to 15-20 years. You are covered under a 10 year warranty that covers all parts and labor.

What are your product certifications?

↓

All our water softener and reverse osmosis systems are made in the USA and tested & certified by the Water Quality Association against NSF/ANSI Standards.
